{"id":587,"date":"2021-11-02T14:06:56","date_gmt":"2021-11-02T14:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/?p=587"},"modified":"2021-11-25T15:25:31","modified_gmt":"2021-11-25T15:25:31","slug":"bitter-orange-and-cardamom-martini","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/archives\/587","title":{"rendered":"Bitter Orange and Cardamom Martini"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>This sophisticated cocktail is infused with flavours of orange and cardamom, making this a perfect tipple for a special occasion.<\/p><cite>Ainsley Harriott<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>8 cardamom pods<\/li><li>3 tbsp bitter orange marmalade<\/li><li>450ml vodka<\/li><li>3 orange peel strips<\/li><li>150ml Cointreau or Triple Sec<\/li><li>2 tbsp fresh lemon juice<\/li><li>3 large splashes Angostura bitters<\/li><li>For the garnish: 4 orange peel twists<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Method<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In a pestle and mortar, crush the cardamom pods until they have split open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a small saucepan, melt the marmalade over a medium heat, but do not allow to boil.  Remove from the heat and add the vodka, crushed cardamom pods and orange peel strips.  Set aside to infuse and cool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour the cooled mixture into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.  Add the Cointreau, lemon juice and Angostura bitters and give everything a good shake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fine-strain into Martini glasses (x4) and serve garnished with orange peel twists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tip: To make the orange peel twists, using a paring knife or peeler, cut a long thin piece of peel from the orange (avoiding cutting into the pith).
