{"id":732,"date":"2022-02-10T16:03:51","date_gmt":"2022-02-10T16:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/?p=732"},"modified":"2022-02-10T16:14:52","modified_gmt":"2022-02-10T16:14:52","slug":"chocolate-amarula-crepe-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/archives\/732","title":{"rendered":"Chocolate Amarula Crepe Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Show-stopper cake made with crepes (pancakes), Amarula liqueur and chocolate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ingredients\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1l water<\/li><li>2 tsp salt<\/li><li>250ml oil<\/li><li>20ml white spirit vinegar<\/li><li>8 extra-large eggs<\/li><li>500g cake flour<\/li><li>5ml baking powder mixed with 10ml luke warm water (only add this to the batter when you are ready to bake the pancakes)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"amarula-chocolate-ganache\">Amarula Chocolate Ganache<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>300g dark chocolate<\/li><li>25ml Amarula<\/li><li>50g butter, cubed<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"amarula-chocolate-butter-cream-frosting\">Amarula Chocolate Butter Cream Frosting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>100g unsalted butter, room temperature<\/li><li>400g icing sugar, sifted<\/li><li>50g cocoa powder, sifted<\/li><li>50ml Amarula<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"method\">Method<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"to-make-the-crepes\">To make the crepes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Mix everything (Except for the baking powder) together, beating well to ensure there are no lumps. Allow to stand for 15-20 minutes covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you are ready to bake the pancakes, mix the batter again and if it\u2019s too thick, add a bit more water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It needs to be quite thin, about the thickness of home-made custard. You\u2019ll see if you bake the first few if the batter is too thick, the pancakes need to be very thin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heat the pan and grease well (I like to use cooking spray as well). Add the baking powder mix to the batter and mix through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using a ladle, pour the batter into the pan and swirl around so that the batter covers the bottom of the pan in a thin layer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Allow the pancake to cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute then turn over and cook for another 30 seconds. The pancake needs to be lightly golden brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove the pancake from the pan, place on a plate and continue to cook the pancakes until all the batter has been used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When all the batter has been used, allow the pancakes to cool completely in the fridge before assembling the cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"to-make-the-amarula-chocolate-ganache\">To make the Amarula Chocolate ganache<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Melt the chocolate and&nbsp;Amarula&nbsp;in a double boiler until smooth and glossy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beat in the cubed butter and allow to cool to room temperature before using.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spread 1 tsp of the ganache over each pancake before topping it with another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Continue until all the pancakes have been used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Place the crepe cake in the fridge to cool and set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"to-make-the-amarula-chocolate-butter-cream-frosting\">To make the Amarula Chocolate butter cream frosting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Beat the butter until light and fluffy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add the icing sugar and cocoa powder and mix until the mixture is thick but smooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add the Amarula and mix until the mixture is smooth and creamy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spread the&nbsp;Amarula&nbsp;buttercream all over the chilled crepe cake and decorate with Easter eggs.<br>Serve immediately.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Show-stopper cake made with crepes (pancakes), Amarula liqueur and chocolate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":733,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[189,8,73,60,187,12,188],"class_list":["post-732","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-cooking","tag-amarula","tag-baking","tag-cake","tag-chocolate","tag-crepe","tag-dessert","tag-pancake"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/732","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=732"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/732\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":739,"href":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/732\/revisions\/739"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/733"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=732"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=732"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fraser-clark.com\/food\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=732"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
